These flowers are survivors. When I went for a walk along the Schuylkill Trail Thursday morning, I could see the mud deposited by the river a week ago. This bunch were along the edge of the flood. Farther down the trail, the river had pushed over the chain link fence between the rail line and the path.
Just as black-eyed susans bring joy to my heart, there is a Sesame Street song that makes me laugh no matter what is going on in my life. Last weekend I introduced this song to my grand-nephew. His mother told me today that he listened to it last night while taking his bath. So I invite you to follow this link and join Cormac and me in listening to Ernie and the Muppets “Do De Rubber Duck.”
As the song goes,
Come on, everybody, try
Don’t be left high and dry
As you keep on getting wetter
You’ll be feeling so much better
You’ll be left without a care
And you can even wash your hair.
