I had promised to keep people updated on my progress after my surgery, which was last Tuesday. So you can see I’ve fallen behind. Procedure went well. Overnight stay in hospital ok, but I was really anxious to get out of there when Gale came to get me. My sister Sara’s car had broken down when she was on her way down 13th to visit her daughter. But AAA got her towed and Lyft brought her home before Gale and I arrived. Sara has stayed with me in the apartment, nursing and cleaning. It’s been a blessing because starting Wednesday-Thursday night I’ve been having one gout attack after another. Both in the knee that was operated on and left toe. Worse pain than post surgical. Had a very bad night Thursday-Friday. As a result, I spent most of Friday sleeping. I started to feel better yesterday afternoon.
Today I was even able to get up and make my own breakfast. I attribute this resurrection to having been able to watch and listen to part of the Port City Music Festival on Facebook. Anne Mei’s viola teacher, Sarah Sutton, plays in the group which performs at the Festival in Wilmington NC every year. It was nice to see everyone playing in person. Last year was mostly Zoom, if I remember correctly
Sorry for the delay in the update, but as you can see, I was otherwise occupied. Now I have to get down to doing my exercises to restore functioning in the knee. That’s the pain I’d been anticipating.
Hope you are feeling better soon, Ken. Music is indeed a wonderful healer for mind and spirit.
Sorry about your operation , Ken. My mother had gout, and the pain is awful. Hope you’re feeling better.
Pat
Congratulations on making it through both the operation and the gout attack. What a horrendous post-surgical thing to happen! However, now that it’s in the rearview mirror, hopefully all the chips will fall into place without further ado.
Thank you for the update.
